End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller released the following statement regarding the release of legislation to reform the Electoral Count Act:
“Reforming the Electoral Count Act (ECA) is one of many necessary steps Congress must take to protect our democracy. The bills introduced today are an important step forward. In addition, we must pass comprehensive legislation to protect the freedom to vote, ensure every American has fair representation, and ensure our elections aren’t bought wholly by dark money, all of which is essential and urgently needed if our democracy is to survive.
“Our democracy works best when every vote is counted and every voice is heard. Congress should reform the Electoral Count Act and must also pass comprehensive reforms to protect the freedom to vote and make sure our democracy works for all of us, not just wealthy special interests.”
