House GOP Sides With Gun Lobby Donors Over the Lives of Americans

Over 98% of the House campaign donations the gun lobby made in 2020 went to Republicans, totaling nearly $2.6 million

Yesterday, House Republicans yet again decided that the $2.6 million in donations they received last election from the gun lobby and the nearly $200 million in lobbying that radical, pro-gun groups have spent to block gun safety legislation was more important than saving the lives of innocent children.

Nearly every single House Republican voted against the Protecting Our Kids Act, a commonsense gun violence prevention bill that includes measures with bipartisan public support like raising the age to buy a semiautomatic rifle, cracking down on gun trafficking, promoting safe storage of guns, and banning bump stocks and ghost guns.

“House Republicans once again put their beloved gun lobby donors above our safety and our children’s safety. Their greed and corruption knows no bounds. They are so beholden to the wealthy and powerful gun lobby that they will do anything to appease them so the money keeps flowing,” said End Citizens United // Let America Vote Action Fund President Tiffany Muller. “This is one of the most obvious and vile examples of how big money has corrupted the system.”
